Second Main Runway for Dublin AirportA second main runway will be created at Dublin Airport within the next few years, enabling airlines to offer more longhaul flights to further abroad destinations. The new runway will be built 1.6km to the north and parallel to the present main runway.

The Minister also announced he as taken delivery of a small number of sample passports containing biometric data, the first Irish ePassports.
They have an embedded microchip, containing the digitised facial image and personal details of the passport holder. Under the United States visa waiver program, participating countries must move to full production of biometric passports before 26 October 2006.
Other Airlines match Delta's new chargesNorthwest and Continental are among the airlines who have announced they will match the first class and full coach fare increases introduced by Delta Air Lines this week. Delta's fare hike is effective immediately, the International Passenger Surcharge for Transatlantic travel has increased to €55.00 each way (€110.00 round trip) Northwest Airlines will match this increase, Continental Airlines will do so on competitive routes, and other airlines are likely to follow in a bid to once again offset rising fuel costs.
